The Rather Unusual Adventures of Ice Cream Girl and Mr. Licorice / by Clive Smith and Millena Shang / This graphic novel is a dark drama, telling the story of Stretch, a brilliant young man with a rare disorder that causes him to see the world as a cartoon. The condition gradually intensifies as he becomes more determined to understand it and find a cure before he becomes enveloped in his own vision.

Clive Smith is a pioneer in animated entertainment. He began his career in the UK before moving to Canada and co-founding Nelvana in the early 70s. Smith's many credits include the movies, Rock & Rule, The Devil & Daniel Mouse, The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Pippi Longstocking. Numerous television specials and series credits include the animated Beetlejuice, Cosmic Christmas, Star Wars: Ewoks and Droids (Lucasfilm), Inspector Gadget, Family Dog (Spielberg, Tim Burton) Babar and The Adventures of Tintin. Since departing Nelvana, Smith has primarily been an executive producer for other artists. His debut graphic novel, The Rather Unusual Adventures of Ice Cream Girl and Mr. Licorice, marks Smith's return to the creative driver's seat, where he belongs.

Millena Shang is a Toronto-based illustrator and a graduate of Sheridan College. She loves to bring life to characters and stories through her art while exploring her artistic voice. Ice Cream Girl marks her first significant project and she looks forward to creating more great things in the future.

J. Torres is a Filipino-born Canadian comic book writer. He is perhaps best known for his run on DC Comics’ Teen Titans Go, the Forest of Reading Honour Books Planet Hockey and Stealing Home, the Junior Library Guild and TD Summer Reading Club title Bigfoot Boy, and Lola: A Ghost Story, recipient of an Aesop Accolade from the American Folklore Society. He is married, has two sons and currently resides in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario.

Fred Kennedy works as a broadcaster, but released his first comic in 2010. His work has appeared in multiple anthologies, as well as writing comic adaptations for companies like Ubisoft and Blizzard. In 2023 he released the historical epic Dead Romans through Shadowline and Image Comics.

Chuck Gammage is an award-winning animator and director with a career spanning over 40 years. Credits include animation supervisor roles on Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, FernGully and Space Jam, animator roles on Highlander and Rock & Rule, and music videos for Queen and Grace Jones.

Linda is a Sheridan graduate and seasoned professional with eight years of experience in the animation industry. She is a GTA based digital artist who has contributed her talents to various projects. She was honoured to be a part of the team behind "Ice Cream Gal," as it was her first foray into the world of graphic novels. She is looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Hyein Lee (RGD) is an award winning, internationally exhibited artist, illustrator, and motion graphic designer. Her clients include the CBC, Canadian Family, Canadian Living, This Magazine,General Mills, Planned Parenthood, and Scholastic. She teaches illustration at Emily Carr University.

Nelson Wu is a Toronto based pixel artist and illustrator who graduated from OCAD University. His experiences travelling in Asia have inspired many projects with themes revolving around environments, food, animation, and design. He is currently working in the video game and entertainment industry.

Michele Assarasakorn left her home in Bangkok, Thailand, to pursue an education in concept design for film and video games in Toronto, Canada. She is the co-creator of the graphic novel series PAWS, and colourist for such publishers as DC, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, Skybound and Glénat. She lives in Vancouver with her husband and daughter.

Irma Kniivila is an artist and writer. She is co-author of Everyday Hero Machine Boy, and author of Year of the Dog and the ongoing series The Crosswind Cafe. Irma is the artist for the graphic novel series Fluffle Bunnies and has illustrated for The Walrus and The Globe and Mail. She has also done colour work for Marvel, DC, and Boom! Studios.

Ian Herring is an illustrator and Eisner nominated colourist that split his youth between small town Ontario and smaller town Cape Breton. He was raised on Nintendo and reruns of The Simpsons. He has worked on countless projects for Marvel, DC, IDW, Darkhorse, and Boom! Studios including Ms. Marvel, Silk, Ghost Tree, Jim Henson’s A Tale of Sand, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Jen has art directed projects that have received recognition from the Eisner Awards, The Joe Shuster Awards, The Alcuin Society Awards for Excellence in Book Design and the Governor General Awards. After working in-house for over a decade, she decided to expand her collaborative endeavours and now freelances as an art director and designer. She works with publishers, writers and artists all across Canada to produce graphic novels, children’s books, non-fiction, novels and corporate publications. Jennifer is on the Professional Advisory Council for Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Illustration program and is an instructor at the Ontario College of Art and Design, where she teaches a course on making comics.
